Dr. Nicholas G. Echemendia ("Dr. E") is an Internal Medicine physician. Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, English is his native language, although he is also fluent in Spanish. He is a third-generation physician, and from a young age was inspired to enter the profession by both his father and grandfather who practiced OB/GYN in Atlanta. Dr. E attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN and double-majored in Neuroscience and Spanish.
Upon completing his undergraduate years at Vandy, Dr. Echemendia volunteered for half a year in Managua, Nicaragua with an organization called Manna Project International. There he taught English classes, worked in a health clinic, and fed the poor. After returning to the States, he pursued research in a genetics lab at Vanderbilt before attending medical school at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. Dr. E completed his residency training in Internal Medicine in Cleveland at Metro Health Hospital.
Dr. Echemendia joined Alabama Internal Medicine (AIM) in September 2016. He is board certified by the American College of Physicians in Internal Medicine.
In his spare time, he enjoys hiking with his wife, playing and reading with his four young daughters, and playing tennis.
